Ho Chi Minh's biography is a fascinating one if the brief account I've managed to read up on so far is any indication. While some stuff makes obvious sense--for instance, my Rough Guide notes in somewhat odd (ironic?) style that 'he was called to Moscow in 1923 to begin a career in international revolution' [not the easy job option it used to be - ed.]--there were also a few false starts for Uncle Ho on the way; he evidently worked as a pastry chef under Escoffier in London's Carlton Hotel for a while. And I thought it was French colonialism that accounted for the baguettes and good pastries available here in Vietnam.
